Spectator/Player guidelines for games at Falmouth
by posted 05/05/2021

Below are the updated Spectator and Player Guidelines for the games at Falmouth this weekend.

  • Players have the option to not play with masks in the game.  They should put them on on the sidelines.
  • We're asking that coaches and refs wear masks.
  • We are asking that folks be judicious in inviting spectators but there is no longer a 1 player 1 spectator limit.
  • Spectators are not required to wear masks if they can maintain 6 feet of distance.
  • Spectators must watch from the perimeter of the field for social distancing.  All four teams will be in-between the two fields.

5/6 Boys Schedule
by posted 05/04/2021

I apologize for the delay in getting this schedule out.  I only got final confirmation today for a few games/times.  The games this weekend were scheduled so early due to availability of refs.

We will issue shooter shirts, shorts and jerseys this Thursday at practice and assign boys to Red or Black team.

Please remember to be at games at least 30 minutes early - to find the right field, get dressed and be ready to play at gametime.

Just a reminder, everyone gets equal game time, regardless of practice attendance or playing ability.

Thanks for your patience - Marc

Updated mask guidelines
by posted 04/28/2021

Please note: Scarborough Youth Lacrosse will be following the Maine Principals Association's updated mask guidelines. See below for updated information...

High school athletes will no longer need to wear face coverings during outdoor competitions, the Maine Principals’ Association announced Wednesday.

The announcement comes a day after Gov. Janet Mills announced that masks are no longer mandated outdoors.

As part of the changes, the MPA announced that:

•  Masks are not required for outdoor practices and competitions.  Masks are recommended when 6 feet of physical distance is hard to maintain, such as for athletes on the bench. They are also required when individuals go inside to use locker rooms or restrooms, or when on a bus.

•  Spectators are not required to wear a mask at outside events if they are able to maintain 6 feet of distancing.

Practices start Thursday 29Apr
by posted 04/25/2021

Practices start for the 5/6 Boys on Thursday, 29Apr at 5:30pm til 7:00pm.  Practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at the same time on the Middle School Field - which is behind the Middle School, we use the outfield of the softball field.

Players should be dressed and ready to play by 5:30.

Due to the conditions of the turf, the high school has taken Memorial Field longer in the afternoon than they have in the past, so we had to adjust to other fields.

For this first Practice, please be sure to stay with your player for the first 15 minutes or so of practice.  Since we were unable to have a season kickoff, we will have a brief discussion of policies and rules for the season.  For those of you that were with us in 2019, you will hear the same stuff again that we passed in 2019.  All of the coaches are back with some new help anticipated as well.

Allie Edmunds has volunteered to be our Team Admin again and I think her for her assistance in keeping me on track.

Coaches Steve S, Chris C, Matt A, Eric T and Thad W are all returning as well.

We will have the same plans as in the past - rotating through positions so that all can learn their skills.  If anyone wants to be a goalie, we can be sure to provide them extra time in goal and do some skills specific to goalie with them as well... HOWEVER - all are expected to take a turn in the goal for at least half a game.

I am working out the finalized game schedule for the league, and hope to have that published in the next day or so.

We are starting on Thursday to adhere to schools rules - if anyone went away from Maine for break, they are required to be in state for at least 3 days prior to returning to in person school/practice.  I would rather have everyone together for the first practice to pass a consistent message and expectations to all.

Emails sent through the SYL Website are posted to the "NEWS" section under the specific team.  So if you have players on different age group teams, you can find info on the website too.

If you have any questions, please let me or any of the coaches know.  You can reach me at sylcoordinator@gmail.com or 207-482-9262 (text is best).

We are excited for another season and happy to have so many players returning as well as some new faces.
