Coach Hezlep will be in his 5th year with the Red Storm Lacrosse Program. He started coaching the 7th and 8th grade teams in 2001. This will be his 2nd season with the high school program; he again will be one of the Junior Varsity coaches as well as helping with mostly the offense of the varsity squad.
Coach Hezlep attended Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH. While there he majored in Western Politics with a minor in American History. Coach Hezlep also worked as a tutor for the politics department for two years and then served as a one on one peer mentor, helping kids who were having trouble adjusting to the freedom and academic requirements of college. He played lacrosse for the Division 2 Penmen in the Northeast 10 Conference from 2001 until 2004. Was a starter in his first year as a Penmen.
Before SNHU Hezlep played lacrosse SPHS. He played baseball until his sophomore year when he started playing lacrosse. He was a captain in his junior and senior seasons and was also the teams leading scorer in those years. As a senior he was a Press Herald All-State honorable mention and was selected to play in the Maine Senior All-Star game. Hezlep also played football all four years in high school, he play defensive end and was a back-up quarterback and won a Class A State Title in his senior year.
Coach Hezlep continues to play lacrosse in many leagues around the Portland area and plays yearly in the SNHU Penmen alumni game.
Hezlep currently lives in Portland with a couple friends from high school and works for a mortgage company in Portland's Old Port.
